Shipping Instructions
More and more of our clients who
hunt here in Montana are also sending their trophies taken from their home
states and elsewhere. We wanted to include a few tips to ensure safe arrival
of these horns and skins.
By far and away
the "safest" method to send skins is in the dry salted state. However,
the preparation must be done by a competent individual. The alternative
for gamehead capes is to skin off and freeze. Smaller mammals and birds
can be frozen whole. These frozen items can then be wrapped to prevent
leakage, insulated and shipped 2nd day air. Horns and antlers should have
points protected to prevent puncturing boxes. Also, any appropriate licenses
and tags should be included or attached. Shipping, especially of frozen
items, should be done on a Monday or, at the latest, Tuesday to prevent
any possibility of the perishable package being in a warehouse over the
weekend.
Replacement capes
and skins are available for many species where the original skin was lost
or destroyed.
Please contact
us before sending any of your trophies to discuss the best methods of shipping
for you.
